Dustmite

Graphics / Systems Programmer

I build performant graphics systems, simulations, and engines in C.

My focus is efficient and portable code that runs well on both high and low-end hardware.

Projects

Untitled Game EngineIn Progress

The 3D game engine that brings high fidelity to low end-hardware.

  • GPU-only path tracing UV lightmapper
  • Parallax corrected reflection and indirect probes
  • Acceleration structures (BVH) for both scene nodes and mesh faces
  • Physics system with manifolds: PGS and Baumgarte Stabilization
  • Collision with incremental hull: GJK, EPA, and triangle tests

C, OpenGL, GLSL, SDL2, Nuklear

Space SimulationIn Progress

3D space (surface + body) simulation with accretion and real-time lighting.

  • GPU-only compute shader n-body simulation
  • LBVH constructed from Morton codes
  • Radix sort handles morton ordering
  • Rayleigh / Mie scattering reflects on FFT water
  • Perlin / fBM noise generates planet surfaces

C, OpenGL, GLSL, SDL2

Sarah (Chess Engine)Finished

Bitboard chess engine with handcrafted evaluation, tuning utilities, and extensive search heuristics.

  • HCE with pawn hashing + lazy eval
  • Search: RFP, Extensions, LMP, Futility, SEE, LMR, etc.
  • Tuning utilities: SGDM(R) / ADAMW(R) / SPSA
  • Corrective, continuation, capture, and regular history

C

Game EngineOn-Hold

3D game engine with a "precompute-everything" philosophy, bringing beautiful graphical fidelity to low-end hardware. Highly inspired by giallo and movement shooters.

  • UV + volumetric lightmapper
  • Material-based customizable rendering pipeline
  • Skeletal animation system
  • Collision system using precomputed jarvis marched hulls
  • UI system: triangulated mesh elements, text rendering, and animations

C, OpenGL, GLSL, Nuklear, SDL2

PS1 Game DemoUnfinished

Movement FPS proof of concept for the PS1.

  • Collision / movement system - fixed point math
  • Map creation pipeline: game engine -> PS1
  • Lightmapped + gouraud shaded
  • Screen space fog inspired by Silent Hill
